KEELER, Calif. — Residents do not necessarily need to drive to Lone Pine for every household solid-waste disposal need. Inyo County’s public list identifies an active Keeler Transfer Station as part of the county recycling and waste-management system.
How do drivers find the facility?
The county’s directions refer motorists to the first road to the right from Lone Pine toward Old Highway Road and then to the end of that road. Because these directions are general and the surrounding area includes unpaved and rural roads, verify the exact location through county waste-management staff before setting out.
Are the hours guaranteed?
No. The county lists the Keeler site among transfer stations, but the main web directory does not provide an easy-to-verify current weekly timetable for this particular location. Residents should call the county’s solid-waste office at 760-873-7191 about hours, fees, accepted materials and holiday closures before arriving with a load.
What materials need special handling?
Hazardous waste, oils, tires, electronics, building debris and ordinary household trash can have different disposal requirements. Do not leave materials outside a locked gate. Inyo County Environmental Health describes illegal dumping as a violation and asks residents to report abandoned waste through official channels.
